Outdoors showers on Nantucket - don’t pass them by

Outdoors showers on Nantucket - don’t pass them by

On the southern shore, ocean side, of Nantucket Island, across a country lane from quite literally miles of beaches, away from all the cute shops, expensive boutiques, tony  restaurants, and exhaust spewing cars lined up along cobblestone streets to board the outgoing ferry, you will find one of the best hostels in America. For around $40 a night you can sleep on America’s richest playground, ride bikes or take the intra-island busses, sunbathe and generally enjoy island life. And among the pleasures of this hostel are a few hot showers outside in stalls open to the sky, along the back of the men’s dorm building.

This is reason enough to go and stay there. And in case you are wondering, they are designed so that once enclosed you have full privacy.

The stalls have room to hang clothes and towels, with a seat to boot.

If you haven’t had this pleasure then get there or find someplace that has them and give it a try. Life changing. Really.
